A few months ago, we posted about Emily and Bryan’s at home date nights with Club W (read that post here). Today, we’re sharing 4 more of our favorite ideas for at home date nights. These are easy things you can do after you put the kiddos to bed, or after a long day at work when you don’t feel like going out. No more letting a busy life get in the way of spending that much needed quality time with your spouse!
1) Have a picnic in the backyard. Save this for a night that you feel like staying home but want to change up your scenery a bit (for those of you not in Florida, you might have to wait a few months on this one!). Pick up some of your favorite foods and a few new ones, pull out the fancy napkins and glasses, make a charcuterie board for appetizers, and enjoy some time outside together. We love this idea so much! (P.S. For more picnic ideas, take a look at this post by McKenzie last year!)
2) Make it a theme night. Choose a theme, and make sure everything you do is centered around it. Cook a fancy Italian dinner (or order pizza), and watch Life Is Beautiful. Eat nachos and popcorn while watching a big game on TV together. Or, our favorite, make some crock pot tacos and try learning how to salsa dance! Having a theme forces you to try some new ideas and have fun with it, even at home!
3) Cook something together. Find a new recipe that you’ll both enjoy and make it together! If you’re feeling competitive, choose different recipes and make it a contest to see who’s dish turns out the best. We’re drooling over this grilled steak fajita recipe and this shrimp scampi dish!
4) Host a couple’s game night. Invite a few other couples over and battle against each other. Have a prize for the winning couple— a cozy throw, a gift card to your favorite restaurant, or a free night of babysitting, and serve some delicious game night food. We’re dying for an excuse to try this taco lasagna!
