Friends! Meet Amber. She’s my soul sister and lives in Los Angeles. Her design skill is unmatched. Can’t wait for you to get to know her more here!
I’m the daughter of a gardener and a librarian, and part of the design house Pitbulls and Posies. Formally trained as an architect, I’ve had an affinity for paper and handwritten notes since I was small. Though one would assume by my name that my parents were hippies (which they were) I actually married into such goodness when Josh asked me to be his wife. At the core of good architecture is a love for creating and dreaming, for collecting stories and telling them through light and steel and wood. I see the design of paper, flowers, and anything really as no different. A lover of texture, pattern, color, and the unexpected, I delight in the telling of your tale through many mediums. I find it hard to not sweat the small stuff, because it’s there, in the details where your story can be found. Photo by Courtney Lindberg Photography.
A HOUSE IN THE HILLS BLOG: Sarah Yates has the most amazing style and shares the best recipes … her instructions are simple, artfully photographed, and she presents soulful and healthy meals in a non-intimindating way. Her beautifully organized blog makes you feel at home and it’s so evident that she’s passionate about what she loves. Once you decide what to make for dinner tonight, make sure to check out her cute pups.
WATER BUFFALO HORNS: We have two rowdy pitbull mixes who are packed full of love and energy! These horns have been hands down the best dog chews ever. From natural shed water buffalo horns, they keep our girls busy for (what seems like) hours. They’re sturdy and inexpensive and all breeds that we’ve gifted these to have also loved them! Occupied pups are always a good thing!
PRINTS BY CHELSEA PETAJA (OH MY DEER!): Our little apartment is covered in prints from Chelsea Petaja. There is just something about her perfectly selected and artfully penned quotes that are equally calming and motivating! We actually keep plenty of the 8×10 versions on hand for gifts – pair them with the cute & inexpensive white Ribba frames from Ikea and you have the absolutely most perfect and lovely gift ready to go!
SOUL CYCLE: Soul Cycle is spinning heaven. It’s like the best designer and the best fitness instructor gave birth to the best and most beautiful workout ever. Class will bring laughter, sweat, and tears of honestly. Online sign-ups are easy and class is totally addictive.
PADDLE BOARDING: A dear friend taught me to paddleboard in Maui of last year and every since I can’t get enough. It’s my on-water moving meditation. It’s so important to me to find that little slice of this beautiful world that fills up your heart.
MICROPLANE SPICE GRATER: Go with me on this one. I love pedicures. A great way to get amazingly soft feet at home, without spending the money or time on weekly trips to the salon (or cutting yourself with those crazy razor-blade contraptions) is to use this amazing spice grater on your calluses! I think you’re just going to have to trust me. Draw a bath, apply some of the callus eliminator that you find at any drug store, and then work away! Your feet will be insanely soft, you’ll see!
